A solid state thermoelectric device is installed as a heat pump to provide individual heating and cooling. Ambient room air is forced through the heat pump and thermally conditioned (heated or cooled) in response to temperature settings in the electronic control units. The conditioned air is distributed to the occupant by high performance fans through a uniquely designed air distribution system. The system was designed to maximize thermal comfort while not degrading the sleep experience.
Each side is individually controlled, so that partners can each chose from a range of temperature settings. There is virtually no "bleed" through of temperature from one side to the other. No need to disagree over the blankets on top; simply adjust the temperature of the mattress below.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as many as 70 million Americans are affected by chronic sleep loss or sleep disorders, resulting in $50 billion in lost productivity. Sleep is essential for both maintaining good health and enabling people to function at their highest level.
Finding and maintaining the right temperature is important for a good night sleep. Those who value sleep know that sleep quality and temperature of the environment are closely related.
The National Sleep Foundation points out that in general, most scientists believe a slightly cool temperature contributes to better sleep. That's because your body's temperature is cooling off before and during sleep. In fact, the lowest core temperature of your body occurs between midnight and 7am each day.
